Our team of 120 facilitators have been trained to provide psycho-social-emotional healing within communities impacted by Harvey, through education in evidence-based self-care skills and peer group support.

  1. Educational support groups for 8-12 community members, meeting weekly for 8 weeks, 2 hours per session.

  2. Workshop (2-4 hrs) to introduce core self-care skills

The self-care skills taught have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, enhance emotional resiliency, improve mood, and promote healing.  Skills include:

  • Breathing exercises

  • Meditation

  • Genograms

  • Autogenic training

  • Biofeedback

  • Self-expression through writing, drawing, and movement

The facilitators were trained by the world-renowned Center for Mind-Body Medicine, who has brought their community-based psychosocial program to areas across the world. The CMBM model consistently demonstrates 80% reduction in symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Learn more about the CMBM model.
